Dr. Steven L. Scher


Biography

It is Dr. Steven Scher’s greatest goal to provide his patients with the kind of orthodontic care he would want for his own family. Along with the rest of the Embrace Orthodontics team, Dr. Scher hopes to give you the brilliant, healthy, and straight smile you’ve always wanted.


Education and Experience


Before becoming an orthodontist, Dr. Scher completed his dental school education at New York University with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental society. Dr. Scher served two years in the US Army at Fort Sill in Oklahoma before continuing on to receive his Orthodontic Certificate of specialty training from New York University. Dr. Scher is a Board Certified orthodontist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. This is the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association and sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontists.

Dr. Scher studied at the Roth-Williams Foundation for Continuing Education in California, where he trained in occlusion and TMJ treatment modalities. He has experience in treating patients with skeletal deformities who require a combination of orthodontic treatments. He is a certified Invisalign® Premier Provider and has been certified in Biolase® laser therapy as well. Dr. Scher is a Senior Attending at Norwalk Hospital, where he treats orthodontic patients who are unable to afford treatment in a private practice.

Outside the Office


Dr. Scher, his wife Susan, and their two sons, Peter and Alexander, live in Weston. Dr. Scher’s older children, Jon and Lara, are both married and have blessed him with four beautiful grandchildren. Some of his hobbies include playing tennis and golf, skiing, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. He is passionate about photography and he has been the designated team photographer for the Weston High School Soccer and Lacrosse teams. His photos have been published in the Westport News and Weston Forum.
